OPALESCENT EFFECT GLITTER – REINVENTED
Deco Bioglitter® PURE is a TECHNICAL grade, specially developed to use in printing, coating, art & craft and other non-cosmetic, decorative applications.
Bioglitter® PURE products produce an opalescent effect totally unique to Bioglitter® and complete new to the glitter industry.
Deco Bioglitter® PURE, is TÜV ‘OK biodegradable WATER’ certified, considered to be the highest level of fresh water biodegradability certification in the world. Deco Bioglitter® SPARKLE has been developed to biodegrade quickly and safely in the natural environment.
Iridescence – Reinvented
Due to the physical and chemical properties of naturally derived raw materials it is not possible to re-create the structure of a plastic iridescent effect glitter. Therefore, we have had to take a completely different approach and reinvent the effect in an eco-friendly way.
Our ‘Natural Colour’ range was our first offering in this novel type of glitter. ‘Opal’, a mother of pearl effect and ‘Vivid’, a strong metallic effect, both joined the range in 2020 are our most recent colour ranges in the PURE product portfolio.
Aluminium Free
All Bioglitter® PURE products do not have a reflective aluminium layer. This makes them different to Bioglitter® SPARKLE or Bioglitter® HOLO products, all metallic and holographic glitters have an reflective aluminium layer.
Being aluminium free offers enhanced formulation compatibility and chemical resistance, particularly acidic or alkali water based formulations and were surfactant levels are high.
The reflective aluminum layer in Bioglitter® SPARKLE and HOLO products has been optimised to be as incredibly thin, 2,000 times thinner than a human hair! Aluminium is a metal and inorganic, and is therefore exempt from the biodegradability performance of Bioglitter®. Biodegradability tests evaluate how well organic materials (carbon containing compounds) biodegrade in a particular environment, within a particular time frame. Aluminium is used because it’s one of the most reflective metals in existence, second only to silver which is substantially significantly more expensive and also a natural biocide. Using a biocide like silver in Bioglitter would prevent it from biodegrading.
