ECOLOGICAL BENEFITS –
TICKING THE GREEN BOXES

Ethically and sustainably sourced raw materials.

Cosmetic Bioglitter® is based on naturally derived raw materials that are ethically and sustainably sourced.  They are are cellulose based which is extracted from hardwoods, preferably eucalyptus, sourced from responsibly managed and certified plantations operating to PEFC™ www.pefc.org standards.

Biodegradability:

Bioglitter® is designed to biodegrade quickly and safely in natural freshwater environments.

Sigmund Lindner GmbH uses TÜV OK biodegradable WATER certification as a simple and clear means of communicating this fact to our customers.  We have taken this approach as terms such as ‘100% plastic free’ and ‘100% biodegradable’ can be used without qualification and don’t necessarily describe the eco credentials of a product.

At Sigmund Lindner GmbH, we believe OK biodegradable WATER certification cuts through the confusion.  Moreover, the ISO14851/ISO14582 tests at the heart of this certification are also specified by ECHA (European Chemicals Agency) in its proposed EU Microplastic legislation due to be published in 2022. These tests are used to determine whether or not a polymeric material is considered a microplastic.

    • Independently tested by OWS Belgium to ISO14851 / ISO1852 fresh water biodegradability and proven to biodegrade highly in natural, fresh water environments.
      • Very high fresh water biodegradability performance, official expressed as ‘biodegradability well progressed’. Only 3 percentage points away from meeting the incredibly high performance criteria required to achieve TÜV’s fresh water biodegradable certification.

HEALTH BENEFITS –
LOW HEAVY METALS MEANS HEALTHIER GLITTER

Cosmetic Bioglitter® contains low levels of heavy metals and is Antimony free (<0.5 ppm total content analysis, this is below detectable levels).

Cosmetic polyester glitter can have antimony levels as high as 150ppm and non-cosmetic polyester grades can have significantly higher levels. The antimony in polyester glitter is a by-product of a catalyst used in the manufacture of polyester and can negatively and adversely affect health.

Cosmetic Bioglitter® PURE has the additional benefit of being aluminium free, so it is compliant with FDA/USA cosmetic regulations for use on lips.

COSMETIC BENEFITS –
SILKIER AND MORE COMFORTABLE ON THE SKIN

Based on plants, not plastic, Cosmetic Bioglitter® feels much more comfortable on the skin and less irritable when worn in the hair compared with equivalent sized plastic glitter. Similar to comparing the comfort difference experienced between wearing natural and man-made fabrics; Bioglitter® is made from naturally derived materials and is physically softer than polyester glitter.

In blind testing, over 80% of people preferred the softer, silky feel of Bioglitter®.

In addition, all Bioglitter® products are precision cut to ensure a smooth clean edge, even further enhancing the user experience.
